Where to stay in Mykonos, Greece
I know exactly what you are thinking.
“We have only X amount of days in Mykonos, what is the best hotel to stay in for budgeting and to see everything?”
Since I lived in Mykonos for 4 years, I became very aware of the top hotels and where people loved staying in order to accomplish the most. So I am going to give you some ‘local’ tips.
It definitely makes a price difference for what month you are going. Below I will mention amenities that I think are important…so let’s just assume all of them have the basics of free a pool with sunbeds, WiFi, air conditioning, and free breakfast.
Mykonos town is where you wanna be. It has the sea, a couple small beaches nearby, tavernas, and nightlife. And of course, so much shopping for yourself and souvenirs for back home. The town is a total labyrinth that seems like you always find something new around the corner to look at even if you passed the same spot 5 times.
Poseidon
Price Range: $73 – $407
- Sea view
- Airport Shuttle Service
- Refrigerator in room
- Close to famous Windmills
Overlooking Mykonos Windmills, the Poseidon Hotel Suites is only 50 m from Megali Ammos Beach and a 3 minute walk to town. The 3-star hotel offers a freshwater pool, and bright rooms with air conditioning and fan. www.poseidonhotel-mykonos.com
Rochari
Price Range: $121 – $236
Having opened in 1976, this little hotel is a gem to many for a couple decades. Run by a Mykonian family, they welcome you with full Greek hospitality as a friend, rather than a guest. The hotel has an amazing view of the sunset and sea, with a great pool! www.rochari.com
Leto
Price Range/night: $84 – $640
- Harbor view
Nestled at one of the greatest spots in the harbor, the Leto Hotel offers a luxury experience with the perfect location for enjoying nightlife and romantic dinners at small candle lit tavernas in town. And, you can see the sunset from the pool! www.letohotel.com
Belvedere
Price Range/night: $147 – $1,210
- Tennis Court
- Babysitting
- DJ/Cocktail lounge
Ranked one of the best hotels in Mykonos, the price might burn a small whole in your wallet. With a busting cocktail lounge around the pool at night, this hotel is a favorite for location (nestled in between the palm trees by the bus station). Some rooms offer a distant sea view. www.belvederehotel.com
The beaches are some of the island’s most intriguing part. Each of them have a different ‘personality’ and serve a purpose for the island and tourism. While there are around 30 beaches to choose from to soak up the sun, I have picked out a few of my fav on different beaches.
San Giorgio
Price Range/night: $165 – $380
- Relaxed atmosphere
Perched on one of the more popular beaches, Paranga, is known for cool sunset beach bar vibes, and fun water sports during the day. Around 4 kilometers and a 20 minute bus ride from town, this hotel has a light bohemian vibe that will groove your soul. It is a standard Mykonos price with all the normal amenities, which makes it perfect for a day of playing paddle ball on the beach below, or hitching a ride at night for some nightlife action. sangiorgio-mykonos.com
Bill and Coo
Price Range/night: $317 – $817
- Breath taking view
- Close to town and beach
I know what you are thinking. This is not budget. No, it isn’t – but that pool! This hotel has a calm attitude, mostly recommended for a romantic atmosphere. Sitting above Megali Ammos Beach, the hotel offers a fresh of breath air, and a close walk or ride to town. www.bill-coo-hotel.com
These are my top picks! But I am happy to give more recommendations. Just let me know the month and your ideal price per night in the comments.
