Staycation: How to Long-Term Travel
We all love vacations…but what about just not leaving? Yeah, I know you have that job and that dog, or maybe that significant other? Who says they can’t pick up and take flight with you? This blog will show you some preparation on how to make your much anticipated vacation into a full fledged staycation.
Where do you want to go?
The world is your oyster! Depending on what country your passport is from, you can usually stay anywhere for tourist purposes up to 90 days (3 months) without having to leave the country. But the drawback is you cannot legally work. However, some countries allow you to stay up to 6 months or even get a 1 year residence/work visa!
Working Abroad
I usually opt for having an online job when I travel around long-term. These can be anything to copywriting, technical writing, guest blogging, online personal assistant, graphic design, web design, etc. Anything you basically don’t need to be completely hands on, but you got the skills for. These types of jobs usually can be project based and will allow your hours to be flexible enough to hit the trail.
Great work-at-home job sites:
If you were looking to actually start working offline in the country you are staying in, this will require a bit more attention to detail and will need a work visa setup. Depending on the country you are planning on staying in, they will have different rules on how to find a job.
Get your pet a passport!
Don’t leave your fuzzy friend behind. There are plenty of adventures yet to be had. It is important to double check if countries have quarantine periods on arrival, airline policies, and pet friendly accommodation. One of my favorite sites for this is PetTravel.com
Travel with your honey!
You could be married, or in a relationship, but it shouldn’t halt your long-term travel experiences. Looking into dual-experiences for volunteering around the world! My favorite is woofing.
