Beauty Abroad: Loreal vs Lush Face Masks

3 min read

Living abroad means that we don’t always have access to the products from our home countries. However, there are brands out there that are very universal and can be found just about anywhere!

After a hard-hitting campaign abut their pure clay face masks, I had to try L’Oreal’s new line of face masks. Of course, I didn’t read the packaging properly for one of the ‘face masks,’ and ended up getting the gel cleaner and applying it as a face mask. 🙈

L’Oreal Pure Clay Mask/Cleanser

Let me first tell you that I am not a fan of L’Oreal products. I think they are cheap to be using in your hair and your skin. As we age, it is important to start looking at the ingredients you are putting into and onto your body because it will effect how you feel and look. But I wanted to give it a go because I have seen a lot of review on their products, so I tried for myself!

Illuminating Cleansing Gel

I honestly thought this product was going to be a face mask. I was not paying attention, and I applied it as if it were a face mask and let it sit on my face for 20 minutes. I am honestly ridiculous.

However, I didn’t see it do anything extravagant. It felt like dish detergent and tasted about the same when I washed it off. It bubbled everywhere. I am still going to give it a month’s try because for all new products you try out, sometimes it takes a solid trial month to let the product showcase it’s features.

It is supposed to make skin feel fresher and brighter.

Pure Clay Detox Mask

I really liked the texture of this mask. It was thick, and didn’t smell too chemical produced. It was wicked hard to get off my face once it had dried (10-15 minutes). In fact, my whole bathroom sink was just black droplets and streaks from having it come off.

I will give it a couple more tries to see if it actually brightens my skin.

Lush Fresh Face Masks

Lush Oatafix Fresh Face Mask

It looks super gross, but it smells and feels like you just put cookie batter on your face. And I don’t mean in a greasy way. This mask is supposed to hydrate, exfoliate and treat. It is one of my favorite masks because it is made from all-natural ingredients, and is great if you have dry skin (but maybe not so great if you have oily skin).

It only lasts 4-weeks since it is made from fresh ingredients. Make sure to keep in refridgerated.

Lush Ayesha Fresh Face Mask

Meant to keep your skin tight and perky (temporarily….what does that even mean?).

This was the first Lush product I had ever bought. I was interested in Lush because they are fresh and animal-cruelty and palm-oil free. But I didn’t see this face mask do anything special after using it for 4-weeks. I smelled really good and felt nice on the skin, but as for what it was supposed to do…nothing ‘tightened’.
